"As a school, you take teachers’ workload into consideration and show concern for their welfare." (Ofsted)
The Sixth Form Centre is self-contained and for Sixth Form use only. This enables our students to focus on their studies in the environment that matches their needs.
Wireless internet is available to all students in the Sixth Form Centre, in support of learning, so that students can utilise their own devices where appropriate.
In the Internet Lounge, students are able to complete group work, use computers or simply relax. This area is under the supervision of Sixth Form Administrator Jacqui McKechnie.
Throughout the day, our Sixth Form Cafe/Bistro provides hot and cold meals and snacks for students; it is also an area students enjoy for less formal working during free time as they can benefit from the music played on our plasma television.
We also have a supervised silent working environment; the Sixth Form Study Centre, where students can spend timetabled study periods and free time completing coursework and research in preparation for their lessons. The Study Centre is open all day from 8.15am until 5pm and is administered by Mrs Pat Gray and Mr Greg McLean.
The opening of our Cricket & Sports Centre has enabled us to further enhance our curriculum with the new courses, including BTEC Sports Science working alongside our A-Level PE Department to offer sporting opportunities to our students. This is supplemented by the great range of extra-curricular sporting activities on offer to meet the needs of both our male and female students; Fitness Suite (Gym), Dance Studio (Zumba/Step), Sports Hall (5-a-side, Badminton, Cricket). Students are able to participate in sports during our Learning for Life enrichment programme. The facility also allows us to continue with the traditions of our Annual Fancy Dress Football Competition as well as the Summer Olympics; both of which are hugely popular and organised each year by our Sixth Form Executive Committee.
