Liaison with Parents

Whether you are a pupil, parent, member of staff, former pupil or simply a passing surfer, thank you for visiting our website: you are very welcome here.

Liaison with Parents

We regard parents as important in the education process and stress that our mutual support is vital. We encourage parents to contact the school at any time if they wish to discuss their son’s progress should special circumstances arise. As it is not always possible to see parents at short notice, it is advisable to telephone the school to make an appointment to see the staff concerned. The first point of contact is the Head of Year giving some indication of the cause for concern.

In year groups 7 to 10 there is one Parents’ Consultation Meeting a year. Year 11 has two. At these meetings parents are able to meet the staff involved in their son’s education. Students are expected to attend this meeting with their parents.

We organise other meetings and functions, in connection with the Parents Association, in order to inform and strengthen our links with parents.

Letters to the school, should be addressed to the Form Tutor unless it concerns an on-going matter with some other member of staff. Arrangements can also be made to see the Principal.

Academy correspondence is normally sent home via students and may be available on the school website.

We hope parents would encourage their sons to bring letters home, then where required, sign and return the reply slips.

The school now operates 'Parentmail' which is a texting and email system to parents.

We would encourage you to sign up for this and ensure that the school has your current mobile number and email address so you don’t miss any important communication.
