A Level Results 2021/22

Didn’t they do well?!

“Didn’t they do well?!”: the St Margaret’s family celebrates exam success Staff and students have been celebrating another excellent set of exam results here at St Margaret’s. The 2022 Level 3 exam results (‘A’-levels and Level 3 BTECs) were published today, and many students have real cause to be proud. “This year’s ‘A’-level pass rate is around 99½%, which is almost our best ever,” explained Stephen Brierley, Principal here at St Margaret’s. “The proportion of A* and A grades – 19% – is also one of our highest ever, and our BTEC results are very strong too. These figures are all the more remarkable when you consider that these were the first external exams this cohort of students has taken – they didn’t take their GCSEs because of the pandemic”.

Our Director of Sixth Form Robbie Lawton, was equally delighted. “I’m thrilled that so many St Margaret’s Sixth Formers have achieved so highly. Such fantastic results don’t come about by accident: they are tribute to the hard work of the students, the high quality of teaching here, and the outstanding pastoral care we are able to offer at our Academy.” Mr Brierley concurred: “A lot of the credit today will rightly go to our students, who’ve worked hard and overcome considerable challenges to achieve these results today. But I’d also want to pay tribute to our teachers and support staff – their willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic is a key reason behind our students’ numerous success stories.” St Margaret’s emphasis on taking care of all students, regardless of their ability, has long been a feature of its Sixth Form’s ethos, and at no time is that more important than a day like today. “The University application process can seem daunting,” commented Mr Lawton. “But here at St Margaret’s our highly experienced staff can offer students individual care, advice and support as they negotiate the next stage of their education.” That care is evidenced by the fact that the school opened at 8am this morning so that if they needed it, students could have a head start in accessing the clearing process. Happily, though, for many St Margaret’s Year 13 students this proved unnecessary as they had already secured places at one of their top two choices of University.

“All in all it’s been another fantastic set of results here at St Margaret’s,” Mr Lawton concluded. “Many congratulations to all our students – we are proud of you!”. He was expecting that today’s great results will encourage more students to apply for places in the Sixth Form next week, when the GCSE results are published. “We still have places left in next year’s Year 12, and applicants don’t need to go to church to join us. If any prospective students are interested in becoming part of our burgeoning success story, do get in touch!”
