A Message from Our Principal
Welcome! – and thank you for your interest in our Sixth Form.
As you may be aware, St Margaret’s is an 11-18 Church of England Academy; we have long had an excellent reputation both for our work with 11- to 16-year-olds, and for our work in the Sixth Form with older students. We are fortunate to have many good and outstanding teachers working here – and that is the main reason why so many of our Sixth Form students achieve so highly and go on to land top jobs, or to realise their ambitions to study at top Universities.
"The Sixth Form is good", and post-16 "achievement is good overall." Ofsted 2015
"Students expect to take a leading part in the school and are very visible and positive role models for younger students. They fully appreciate the significance of them being senior members of the community." Ofsted 2015
Our Sixth Form is, in many ways, an ideal size. It is small enough for us to get to know you individually – Mr Laird, our Head of Sixth Form, often talks about the ‘Sixth Form family’, and that is exactly the atmosphere we have developed so successfully over the years. Yet our Sixth Form is also large enough to be able to offer a wide range of courses – a range of courses that is even larger thanks to our long-established collaborative links with three top Liverpool girls’ schools, Archbishop Blanch, Bellerive and St Hilda’s.
We welcome applications from all 16-year-olds
- whether you’re currently at St Margaret’s or whether you attend another school;
- whether you’re a young woman or whether you’re a young man;
- whether you’re a Christian, or a Muslim, or of any other faith, or of none… whatever your background, you are welcome to apply here.
Do come along to our Sixth Form Open Evening to find out more, or if you’d simply like to visit, to meet us and to tour the school, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Mr S Brierley, MA NPQH
