GCSE results day 2024/25
St Margaret’s records another strong year of GCSE and vocational results
This morning [Thursday, 21 August], there was a buzz of excitement at St Margaret’s Church of England Academy in Aigburth as Year 11 students arrived to pick up their GCSE and vocational results.
Proud families joined students as they opened the envelopes containing their grades, while staff and senior leaders were on hand to share in the celebrations and enrol the students into the school’s sixth form.
Part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, the academy is once again recognising the hard work, commitment and ambition shown by its students throughout the year.
Overall, there were exceptional performances in triple science, languages, art and photography, with over 73 per cent of students securing the life-changing grades 9–4 in English and maths.
Results in vocational subjects continue to be strong, with over half of the grades in engineering and food and nutrition awarded at Distinction* to Merit.
This year also saw an increase in the number of students achieving grades 7–9, reflecting both their dedication and the high standards of teaching across the school. Subjects such as English and science delivered particularly strong performances, with many students surpassing their target grades.
Come September, many of this year’s students will continue their studies at St Margaret’s Sixth Form, while others will take up apprenticeships or pursue new opportunities.
Zack Alcock achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s and a Distinction.
He said: “I’m very pleased with my results as a lot of work and effort has gone in and it’s all paid off. The school’s ‘revise ‘til 5’ really helped me to focus, as did all the staff. I’m delighted to stay and study maths and engineering.”
Gabriel Ponce gained five grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 6.
He commented: “I feel so good and relieved. Results day was scaring me so much, but I’m happy to be here now and see that my hard work has paid off. I want to thank the staff who have been hugely helpful in my studies – I’ve had some great teachers.”
Nasko Paskalav was awarded five grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7.
Naska added: “I’m absolutely thrilled and would like to thank the staff for their hard work and how they have pushed me to achieve these results. They really believed in me, which is worth more than anything.”
Headteacher, Mr Adam Robinson, said: “Seeing our students open their envelopes this morning was a real privilege. Behind their results is a story of effort, perseverance and personal growth, and we couldn’t be more pleased for them.
“We’re proud to have been part of their journey and wish them every success in the future. Their success in both academic and creative subjects reflects their God-given talents, nurtured through hard work, faith, and the support of our school community. As we celebrate these results, we remain committed to guiding our young people to grow in compassion, resilience, and respect.”
Mr Robinson added: “We are looking forward to welcoming many of our students back next month as they start their A-level and vocational journeys at St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form. Staff will be in the school’s sports centre located at the bottom of Church Lane to enrol students tomorrow and next week from 9am to 12pm.
