At St Margaret’s, we believe that our spiritual development is regarded as crucial because it deals with issues of human wholeness and integration. It encompasses questions of commitment and aspiration; the valuing of self and others, and experience at depth. Our understanding, at St Margaret’s, of spirituality is:
‘…the essence of being human; it is individual to each one of us.
A sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, often involving a search for meaning in life.
It is a universal human experience – something that touches us all.
We were born to be spiritual.’
A church school is more than just a place where the students are equipped with skills, learning and Citizenship for their working lives. Rather, we are a community where spirituality is nurtured to achieve, in our young people, a harmony of experiences which will enable them to inform their choices and directions in their own lives. As a church school we hold as self-evident that the ethos we serve and the vision and values we espouse as fundamental to the future quality of life of our students.
