It has been a pleasure to invite the HumanUtopia team into school on, not just one but, three days in the past month.
The first phase of this project was called Who Am I and the team worked with our year 9 boys for this phase. It was a day-long experience which dealt with important teenage issues around personal awareness, peer pressure and conformity. It also encouraged the students to reflect on their life chances, encouraging them to have high hopes and aspirations for their future. The day had been designed to help young people discover a more authentic side to who they are.
The second and third phase involved the heroes journey when a group of Year 9 students who had volunteered to become heroes were then trained and will work with year 6 and 7 students.
The whole experience is designed to empower young people to develop critical life skills and take motivation and ownership of their education. This has been a positive and memorable experience for those involved in both delivering and receiving and has been a perfect complement to their academic studies at the close of this year.
