Educate Awards

On Friday 17th November 2017, St Margaret’s staff headed to the Educate Awards at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral hoping it would be a special night and it certainly proved to be just that.

Shortlisted for the Career Aspiration Award in addition to Careers Manager, Greg McLean, being shortlisted for the Support Star of the Year; St Margaret’s had two chances of glory.

A magnificent achievement that the newly branded ‘SMA Pathway’ was crowned winners of the Career Aspiration Award; our provision from Year 7 through to Year 13 includes a Work Inspiration programme, Careers Talk Programme, Future Teachers Programme and many more!

The judges’ comments included;

“St Margaret’s CE Academy pride themselves on providing the best possible advice and guidance to students. Its holistic approach to careers provision incorporates talks, employee visits, fairs and work experience in to every stage of students’ development – The SMA Pathway runs from Year 7 through to Year 13.

Over 50 students in Year 10 have participated in the Work Inspiration Programme; over 70 students have gone on to complete work experience placements in Year 12 and The Futures Programme has enabled students to become a teacher and undertake a 10-week placement within a local Primary School.

Greg McLean seems to have a huge impact on the careers development. Really impressive.”

As category number 9 came around; the St Margaret’s staff waited with baited breath…then came the announcement…
