St Margaret's First XI football team have made it three Merseyside Colleges league titles in a row thanks to a 7-0 victory in their title deciding match with Jamie Carragher Sports Academy. Following on from back-to-back wins in the NDS Trophies Championship, the team stepped up to the Bill Murphy Premier Division this season and secured the trophy in a thrilling final game.
The season has seen yet more famous St Margaret's comebacks, having turned around a 1-0 deficit at Range High with a last gasp 2-1 win, before a 3-3 draw with Progress Sports having been 3-1 down with 10 minutes remaining; these fightbacks ensured the title went down to the final day.
Tom gave SMA the lead with a superb lob before Elliot drove home a penalty to make it 2-0 at the break. Owen fired in a third with a left-footed volley before Luke scored a quick-fire double. Captain Iwan added a trademark towering header from a corner before Owen grabbed his second to seal a memorable afternoon.
