Building Work Starts

Work has started here at St Margaret’s Academy (SMA) to deliver new state of the art facilities in time for the next academic year.

Work has begun this week (16 May) on a new food technology facility, as part of a £2 million teaching block which will also deliver a state of the art drama department.

The new facilities are expected to open in September 2016 in time for the start of the new academic year.

The investment in the school’s facilities is part of Mayor Joe Anderson’s £169 million Liverpool School Investment Programme.

This investment comes at an exciting time for the school as it looks to broaden its curriculum with further opportunity for technology and performing arts subjects.
Ahead of the opening of the facilities, a number of new specialist staff members have already been appointed to support the continued growth of the school’s curriculum.

Principal, Stephen Brierley, says: “This is certainly a pivotal time for St Margaret’s and the prospect of being able to offer these two subjects in new state of the art facilities is a very exciting one indeed.

“The new food technology lab and drama hall will mean that we are able to broaden our already rich curriculum and cater for pupils who have a passion for technology and performing arts. I look forward to welcoming both new and returning pupils back to the school in September, to reap the benefits which these wonderful new facilities will bring”.
