Marathon Effort for Local Charity

Students, staff and even parents turned out to run for charity in the recent Liverpool Half Marathon. They were noticeable as they ran wearing our school t-shirt which was sponsored by local legal firm Broudie, Jackson and Canter solicitors, who also kindly provided a voucher for our winner. The only Year 11 boy to run, who stepped in at the last minute with his Dad, was actually our fastest competitor, finishing with a time of 1 hour, 38 minutes, and indeed beating his Dad by 0.01 second on the clock.

Our Year Ten volunteering team were out in force too, manning one of the water stations, helping to distribute thousands of much needed bottles to the athletes.

The effort raised over £800 for local charity KIND and sponsorship is still coming in. Our 6th formers also baked cakes and ran a cake stall to raise funds which were added to the total.

Participation in this event will give the sixth form students hours towards their JMU gold citizenship award.

They are now looking forward to upcoming races, the Spring 10k in Sefton Park in May and then the Mersey Tunnel run in June.

We would love to see this total top £1000 so if you can donate please visit www.justgiving.com/stmargaretshalfmarathon The charity, which is based in Liverpool, is called (KIND – Kids in Neglect and Distress).

We are indeed very grateful to  www.broudiejacksoncanter.co.uk for their support for the school.
