Going Bananas for Fairtrade!

During Fairtrade Fortnight (25th February to 10th March 2013), St Margaret’s Geography department and students got involved in a range of exciting activities to heighten awareness of Fairtrade and to raise some money for the organisation.

Key Stage 3 Geography and Learning for Life lessons focused on the issues of trade across the world and how the organisation is helping people. Students participated in activities discussing inequality, values and attitudes towards trade between more developed and less developed regions of the world and sustainability.

The response to the Fairtrade mascot competition was superb with some exceptional designs, making it very hard to judge. The winner received a Fairtrade Easter egg and the runners up some scrumptious chocolate bars.
